| Seed Distribution Policy It is the policy of the TGRC to distribute seed samples gratis to bona-fide researchers. We do not normally provide material to home gardeners, but we will suggest alternative sources. The standard sample sizes are 25 seeds for self-pollinated stocks, and 50 seeds for outcrossing wild species accessions. Researchers should plan to multiply their own seeds, as needed, to produce larger quantities, as we do not normally provide duplicate samples. For some of our stocks, available seed quantities may be very limited, while some accessions may be temporarily unavailable for distribution. If researchers request unavailable or inactive accessions, we will attempt to find substitutes that are available for distribution. Due to increasing demand for our stocks, and the significant time and costs involved in processing requests, we ask that researchers limit the number of accessions per request to the most essential items, and those which can be immediately utilized. Large orders will be edited down to a maximum of 50 samples in most cases. For the wild species, the core subsets are a convenient means to sample a smaller number of accessions per species. For introgression line populations, researchers are asked to limit initial requests to the primary subsets for each species. International requests: We cannot provide phytosanitary certificates for all of our stocks. Recipients are responsible for obtaining import permits, as needed. Because of the increasing cost of purchasing phytosanitary certificates for international requests, we ask that users: - provide an address in the US where seed can be shipped to, or - combine requests as much as possible (phytos cost the same amount, whether a shipment contains 1 or 100 samples). Please allow 2 weeks for processing domestic requests (up to 4 weeks may be required for international and large orders – SO PLEASE PLAN AHEAD). You will be notified by email when seeds are shipped For questions regarding your request, please contact Peter March at tgrc@ucdavis.edu |
